Looking for ideas after being very disappointed in the typical offerings. Now that I'll be heating my home and garage on 100% wood I'm looking to streamline the process and the norm isn't going to cut it. I've been renting one every year and splitting everything over a weekend but can't help but think how much easier it should be, my complaints...
#1 my outdoor burner will except 34" logs, most splitters are limited to 24"-26".
#2 the wedges are usually only 6" wide meaning on stringy wood I'm constantly splitting both sides of every cut!
#3 very slow cycle time.
I'm thinking about building a splitter that splits in the center of the log and splits 4-6 pieces at a time.. possibly a hyd loader as well?
Looking for ideas, this project will likely be well down the road just curious to see what's out there.
