After what felt like forever, our coro turned up at the docks in Auckland just before xmas.
We didn't want to put it into storage up there, so I hired a car trailer, put a mattress in the back of the van and left for Auckland at 1am.
We arrived at the pick up area at 11 in the morning, and the lads at the yard were very helpful loading up and even helped strapping it down. The van and hitch are rated to tow this weight, and the rig towed very well.
We then got a big feed, and found a rest area on the side of the road where we went to sleep for a few hours.
We then drove back home slowly, it took around 10 hours for the return trip, and I had to stop for another snooze at one point.
Car looks solid, original floors and most of the sheet metal.
it has had a quarter stiched on due to crash damage on driver's side, but it looks ok. A big bit of Bondo in the c pillar, but all n all, pretty solid
Car drives fine, pops out of 2nd gear on deceleration, so will look at linkages, and put redline MTL into it, if no joy, I'll be holding 2nd till it comes time to rebuild.
Paint job is very bad. Looks good in photos, but a real amateur job, straight over the original paint, and there are fry ups and crocodile all over the place, plus a ton of wax eyes, blown paint straight over rubbers, and I can see the reminants of the glue that held the old vinyl top. But hey, I was planning on painting it anyway.
All n all, fuckn cool car
