Hey guys,

I have got a technical question regarding my 1962 413 engine
my enginebuilder is in the process of fixing my 413 engine for my 1963 Savoy, but we don't have a good lead to some quality pistons...
Sealed Power are on the heavy side, as well as KB hypereutectic.
It won't be a dragracer, but I have a crossram, MW heads and 1964 MW carbs. So I don't want heavy pistons.
Would you have an idea where I could find a proper set?

thanks!

Sealed power is the only quality pistons I have found for the price. There are several piston makers that will make them custom for whatever you want. I think you can get a set made for about $850.............................MO

Keep in mind plenty of these ran well with the OEM installed heavy forged pistons (Just like TRW). I ran OEM pistons 11:1 in a MW in the 80's and had no problem with repeated 6000 RPM shifts (4 spd). Are you running quality H beam rods with ARP bolts? Even better if you are. But as said above, you can get them custom made. If you want brute strength use the 2618 alloy but those will require about .0045" clearance and will be a little noisy when cold. For a tighter ring seal and longevity use the 4032 alloy. Those typically have a minimum clearance of .0015".

Yes, I have got a set of h-beam rods for the engine.

Marcel. Avoid hypereutectic pistons at all costs, even if given free.

In certain applications they might fail, but I have a set in my current 440 and it has seen 6000 RPM plenty of times and so far so good. Stock LY rods too. But for ultimate strength I'd go with the 2618. If a street car I'd go with the higher silicon material but not necessarily hypereutectic. Check with WISECO.
