ok so i have a 74 charger with a mild built 340 30 over with cam and intake match with 770 holly and i plan to put a built 904 from Cope racing trans. i just got an 8 3/4 and am looking at putting gears and something to lock it up. i also have 15 rims that i am looking to get some tires and looking for something with good performance and a good stance. i plan to drive the car on the street and take it on not long trips but maybe 100 mile radius and every now and then hit the strip to pay every now and again but mainly for street. any info and advice would be great. thanks y'all.

What sort of advice, exactly, are you looking for? You haven't mentioned any problems or snags that you've run into.

Do you want to know our opinion on what tires to get? Which gear ratio? What car wax? Music best suited for 100 mile trips? :)

yes your opinion on tire size and rear gear i was looking at 3.55? also to see what people are running on their cars and what they like about their set up. to either go with a lock or spool or limited slip in the rear but i dont know a lot about them. i know basic info on the differences with dealing with off road rigs but not much for street rods. i just want to see what people are running and what would be a good set up for what i want to do. Im in Afghanistan again at the moment and i cant use the internet very often so just looking for a little help so when i get home i can try to finish my 74s running gear.

I would stay away from a spool on the street and would love to know what music is best for a hundred mile run

The Dana Power Lock is the dead best limited slip there is...next to a Torsen gear drive unit, and those are pretty expensive. For a mild 340 on a street car in a 74 Charger. Well, I was bein funny with the 5.13s, but I think you'll be happier with either a 3.73 or a 3.91 because that car has some heft. Maybe something like a street stall from Dacco. They stall around 2500 or so. Maybe a little more with a heavy car and maybe a little more with a more radical engine or a big block. You will end up not liking the 3.55 and here's why. It will be enough gear to make gas mileage suck, but give you nothing in return in that heavy car. With 3.73s or 3.91s the mileage will still suck, but at least you'll get much better return on bottom end torque. JMHO.

well as for the music its usually old country or rock lol and ok thanks for the info on the gearing also ill be getting a 2800-3200 stall from cope racing as well. i know the mileage is going to suck lol i just want it to work and be fun to drive. i have had this car for almost 9 years and i just want to get it driving again. i had a suburban stock 350 with 3.73 i believe and it ran pretty good so ill just go with that ok how about tires? what size is everyone running front and rear? like i said i am not home and it just has roller tire on it so my folks can move it around the yard. again thank yall again for all the help
