In the Fresno/Sacramento/Central Valley of California area. Top notch--someone who has done Mopars and could help return a 71 RT to its original GY3.

Have a good day, and thanks.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ?? Thought I'd bump it up for ya :thumbsup:

All the best. I’m skeered. I have a great touch up guy here in San Jose but no way he would take on a major job like yours. Let us know who you find.

Will do. I would go to the Bay Area, too. Just want to be within range to keep an eye on things. And yes, I know it will cost me.

@JimKueneman

We are hip deep into what has turned into a full blown ground up
And to be honest, Not real sure another one is in the cards after this. For either of us
But ask Jim above , he is the painter.
Im just the grunt.

I will be watching this too. Haven't found anyone recommended in the S.F. Bay area, but I would drive a long way to get the car done. One guy who does complete cars sounded good but started by saying 30K and when I commented on that being the absolute top of my budget he waived me off saying it could get to 60k. Hadn't seen the car yet. Another guy, I might still go with, wanted the engine in the car and the running gear all in place. That makes it really difficult to paint the bottom and engine compartment. I mentioned that the dollies the car was on were bolted to stock suspension mounting points but he didn't want to risk it. Which is his call. I might paint the engine compartment and bottom side myself and then do as he requested. Good luck to you mbc0724. Hopefully some useful information will pop up.

Please explain why a painter would want the engine in the car?
Any high end paint job requires it to be removed.

He felt that the car would flex when all the components were in it. His solution was to bring him the body on dollies, he paints engine compartment, bring car home, assemble and install running gear and bring it back. I don't recall when the underside was going to get painted. Probably first trip.
