1968 Plymouth GTX 440 Convertible

Garage Kept Motors is pleased to offer this super rare 1968 Plymouth GTX 440 Convertible. This vehicle is from The John Staluppi Cars of Dreams Museum in Palm Beach, FL, one of the finest car collections in the world. If you?ve never heard of Mr. Staluppi, it would be worthwhile to look him up. Plymouth only made 881 of these GTX Convertibles, making it highly collectible, and even more so being a former Cars of Dreams museum piece. This vehicle came from the factory finished in Sable White (code W) paint with a matching white soft top over a White (code S6W) trim. It is powered by the original 440cid/375hp 4bbl V8 High Performance engine mated to a console shifted 3-Speed Automatic transmission. When Plymouth released the GTX, they rightfully named it The Gentleman?s Muscle Car. It had plenty of power when you put your foot down but also some nice refinements, such as power windows, power convertible top, and air conditioning. The car also features wood trim, power window switches in all seating areas, front bucket seats, center console, Coker redline tires, full spare tire, dual exhaust, dome lighting, original AM/FM radio, boot cover, and remains rust free. This factory Triple White GTX with the Super Commando 440 is the real deal. A garage-kept example worthy of any collection. Be sure to check out all the photos and video on our main website: Garage Kept Motors. Call if interested or e-mail with any questions. Thank you for looking.

At least I still have that license plate! It's on the Hellcat.
I kept the license plate and pink slip for Baby Blue when I sold the car. When I bought it back in 2013, I used the same plate and paperwork to drive the GTX home to PA from Tennessee. The only discrepancy was that the date of issue was 1985, and the pink slip was only valid for 30 days. I hoped if I got stopped, the story of getting the car back would trump the expired paper work. My friend Bob, who had sold me the car in 1983, drove with me, and we made it home without incident.

68 Hemi GTX 4 speed car was just listed on here. Might be too much incorrect for your liking, but it looks like a Hemi car you could drive.

Whats your budget ?

I will forewarn you ,
The bottom 3 will bust most budgets out there . But are Very real , Very nice cars

None are mine but are owned by very good long time friends of mine

None of these are actively listed / being marketed for sale. Just by word of mouth they can be bought

Cars are listed in order in regards to $$$$$
1st one is the least expensive , last one is most expensive
The bottom 2 are over $200k money wise

Blue 68 Charger - 440 4spd , I built it for current owner and could answer most any question on it, Car is in Dayton OH area

Blue 1969 GTX conv - 440 4spd 3/54 Dana , VERY high level done car ( trailer queen IMO ) Its in NJ , ps, I used to own this car 25 years ago

Burgandy 1967 RT vert , Hemi 4spd ( very real car ) Its in AZ

Black 1968 Charger - hemi auto Its in Canada

I'll go on record,, I would own the Burgandy RT vert in a heartbeat. But the only way I could do so is sell my current Satellite. And Im not willing to do that

I was honored to park next to that GTX convertible at Carlisle two years ago, with @1969VAGTX. Truly nice car. Worth every dime. Turned down six figures for my hardtop 440 the same day. The really nice ones are not cheap, but @gtx6970 seems to know all the good ones.

I did see that last week & it does interest me. The car looks pretty clean, but a few things I see wrong are ...

70 K-frame & disc brakes
Electric choke on carb - wrong carb?
Shitty paint job on top of dashboard
Needs a grille & radio dash face plate
electronic ignition added
Looks like the carpeting should have come up higher under the dash.
Looks like the bottom rear of the driver's door sticks out beyond the quarter.

The fender tag does check out ......

I think in today's market, their asking price still has some wiggle room in it, but how much? With shipping and getting the car to my standards (because I'm such a picky bastard), I can see another 6-9 grand being spent.
If is being sold on consignment, then there is probably a margin of 25% involved - plenty of wiggle room for a hungry dealer.
