Magazines that no longer exist.

Alarma was a magazine published in Mexico that had extremely graphic pictures of fatal traffic accidents and murder victims. I only saw it shopping in Mexican grocery stores. It was disturbing. I bet every serial killer and axe murderer had a subscription.

I remember a magazine I used to see in the lobby of the High school principal's office.....It was about the California Highway Patrol and had all sorts of pictures of wrecks, death and destruction.
Yeah, I spent some time waiting to speak to the Principal...

It seems that in the 70s as emission regulations were choking the performance out of the cars, people bought more trucks and vans to satisfy their needs. You can have a fairly slow 4 wheel drive that is still cool off road if you have the right gearing in it. My Dad used to bring home 4wd Blazers and Chevy trucks since he sold Chevrolets from 74-81. For a few months as a Dealer demo he had a 2 wd short bed 454 Chevy truck that looked really plain. That truck would really surprise people, being quite fast compared to other trucks of the day.

Mopar Muscle is still around along with mentioned Mopar Action. I have subscriptions to both. There was a discount mentioned here a few months back about for High Performance Chrysler or something like that. Actually I think it was Chrysler Power magazine!

Yep and last time I conversed with him, the Professor is still there (Rick Ehrenberg).
Since I read the first one, this magazine has been my favorite. The tech, the smart *** humor....Fantastic.
In the early 2000s, I liked Mopar Muscle a LOT. Randy Bolig was a great editor and the magazine often ran well over 115 pages. I think at one point the magazine was bought by another corporation and it changed....Its as if they are heavily sponsored by AMD and GraveYard cars now. EVERY issue has both "Sponsors" figured prominently. Years back they had engine build contest articles almost every issue and even that was boring and redundant. Hardly any articles on engine bay detailing, gauge and dash restoration, A/C upgrades or any other stuff beyond rust repair. Steve Dulcich used to write some good tech articles along with the Q & A but that phased out over there.

I still receive Mopar Muscle, Mopar Action, Mopar Collectors Guide, Hemmings Muscle Car,
Muscle Car Review. I let Hot Rod, Car Craft, National Dragster, & many others expire many years ago due to just too many Chevy's & Mustangs featured....

They are failing due to the internet obviously, but also, they price themselves out of business. I looked at a subscription to F100 magazine. $17.99 a year for 3, yes three issues.
Mopar muscle just sucks, as was already said. Everything is an ad for a product. That **** they put on the car might be free for them, but it costs thousands for us. also, no tech.

Agree 100%. I think when the evil network (Peterson Publishing, now PRIMEDIA) got ahold of them, it went to pot....
Ehrenberg has caught his share of crap from some over the years, but personally I always enjoyed the hell out of his work and he's as much of a walking encyclopedia on anything Mopar as any other breathing soul to date.
Not only that, he'll actually answer you if you contact him and has helped me numerous times.

The only magazines I subscribe to now are Mopar Action and Hemmings Muscle Cars. I will from time to time also get the other glossy Hemmings magazine that has the older stuff in it (forgot the title) and I do still sign up for Chrysler Power when there's a special on it.
