Magnesium Wheels

I have a set of Magnesium Wheel one of them has a small chip right at the edge the outer edge wondering if they're safe

Could be welded and remachined. The front coil mount on my crossram was cut off had a welder build a new mount I shaped to look as good as new.

Welding on magnesium sounds dangerous.

It has to be welded in a cabinet filled with shielding gas or it will burn baby burn!
That's why they outlawed Magnesium wheels on dragsters in the 60's.If one spit
off a tire and the wheel hit the pavement it would start to burn and they couldn't
put it out. It had to burn until there was nothing left.
