Map light switch testing?

Any proper way to test the switch while i have the map light out of the car?

I bench check the switch with 12v power supply. it should turn on in both position of the switch. By the door and turning on manually
you could also use an Ohm meter.
I use a LED bulb in mine.

I put one of these LEDs in my map light. Be choosy of which LED you buy; many types of LEDs only shine a spotlight straight forward. The map light needs a bulb that shines sideways because the original bulb is aimed with only a slight downward angle. Buy a LED that has diodes on the sides:

EDIT: I bought these adapters so I could fit a common blade-style LED in my ceiling courtesy light socket; I used the second one for the map light socket. If you want to convert a 2-contact socket to a blade-style socket, these do the trick:

I used similar amber LEDs for my '70 Charger hood signal indicators as well, because some other LEDs I tried only shone a straight-on circle of light and didn't illuminate the whole lens.
