Margaret Thatcher, the iconic former British prime minister, died Monday at age 87 after suffering a stroke. Although she was a towering presence on the world stage in the 1980s, often standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow conservative President Ronald Reagan, some people may have forgotten her contributions.

We decided to highlight five things you ought to know about her:

She helped break the glass ceiling in politics. She was one of Britain's longest-serving prime ministers. She was an inspiration to American conservatives. She helped solidify a lasting U.S.-British partnership. She helped end the Cold War.

She was in my eyes a wonderful prime minister who wouldn't stand for all the crap that our modern day so called leaders do. I know she had a bad rep for some of her decisions she made whilst in power, but when it comes to the immigration problems we have here in the UK right now she'd have had none of it and been the 1st to put her size 7's straight up the arse of the politically correct and the do gooders.
R.I.P maggie.

I happened to respond and my comment (opinion) was attacked by another Forum member.

I just want everyone to know that I liked PM Thatcher.
She had "BALLS"
She took no BS from anyone including the Argentinians concerning the Falkland Islands.
She sent warships, submarines and the Vulcan Bomber along with Tornadoes.
I know because I was TDY at Ascencion Isl, DEEP So Atlantic, a staging base for Great Britan.
She was a good PM inmy opinion.
She stood beside Ronal Regan and helped defeat the USSR, a tremendously huge feat, insuring freedom for Soviet Block citizens.
JUST MY OPINION...
AND please, lets all get along together?

RIP Maggie! You had more "balls" than many of our modern day politicians who are more worried about getting re-elected, rather than doing what is best for their country.

Amen to that statement...

She also was a driving force behing the britts socialized public health care, was a true believer in global warming.
Was in favor of south africa's racist apartide.
Was aginst the reunification of germany.
And was the worst single thing ever to happen to the Irish and for that alone.
Good riddence, may she spend her days playing bridge with Saddam
