That's a great looking fender protector. Are they original from the time or an aftermarket purchase? I haven't seen those before.
 
Original from the 70's. It was part of MoPars efforts to attract more guys into the mechanic field. They held contests in their service districts. Mine was in Minneapolis.
 
I was involved with the contest in 1973 while in my H.S. auto program. IIRC they sent 3-4 students and a few backups. I was a backup and dident get to go. This was about the time when Chryslers electronic ignition first came out. I think our crew came in 3rd or 4th, this was in the NY metro area and there were many schools competing. To bad this dont happen any more as well as H.S. shop programs. I did nail the Gates Mystery Man though. I think my plaque is still at Moms house. Better times for sure.
