To recap:

When we were kids, my great grandma Gallo would make these particular cookies for us.
The cookies had a unique name, both in English and Sicilian.
I haven’t heard of or tasted these cookies in over 40 years now.

Although almonds ARE a main ingredient of the cookies in question, none of these are correct

My dad’s mom is from Naples

All that mixed with a little German and French too

So I did an internet search and it appears these cookies are also commonly made during an annual celebration in the Fall by Sicilian, Italian, Mexican and I’d think others as well…
