Maybe things aren't so bad after all?

I mentioned going to community college for a couple years taking pre engineering classes. Full time, 15 hours a semester, my books cost more than tuition.
When I enrolled in a tech-school nearby in ‘76, the per-credit cost was – 3-bucks. Lol! $204 to obtain the degree. Yeah, the texts were much more. Today it is around $150 per-credit or over $10-grand. Quite a swing, given that if only adjusting for inflation the per-credit cost ‘should’ be around $20 per/credit.

When we bought our first house in 1981, the interest was 18.5%. And we had to beg for a friggin loan, despite having $10-grand down, both of us employed fulltime. At one of the several banks we went to, my wife had to yank me out of one banker’s office before I grabbed the banker by his necktie to tighten his knot, after he said “You know you could lose your job creating a higher risk.” I said, “You could lose yours too, what in the hell kind of statement is that?”

1980's? Money? I'm thinking Dire Straits
