Meet Anika Nilles, RUSH's New Drummer

*** edit*** I checked, he is in fact the drummer on the song.
I saw Avenged Sevenfold a few years ago and really liked them. I don’t know a lot of their history; was the guy you mentioned the drummer on the song Bat Country? Whoever did the drumming on that was certainly next level. If any of you aren’t familiar with the song check out the drumming on it. And if you’re a Hunter S. Thompson fan you should recognize a lot of the imagery in the video.
Yes he was the drummer on that song.

That is great news they are keeping it up! I'm sure they will be sure to stay a long ways away from Fargo, though.

I would like to see her play La Villa Strangiato, that will show me if she can hack it.

I bet she can do it! We’ll see if they even attempt it! Would be cool to see!

As a musician and covered many tunes over the years, copying another musicians music, the feel, touch, emotions when the recorded it is tough! The better the musician and band the tougher it gets to do it right! Then you have Rush and Neil! Whole different level! She will have huge shoes to fill and lots of expectations I’m sure! But she is a killer drummer and there is no way they would have chosen her if she couldn’t keep up! IMO, she will kill it! Go get em!

Everything I've seen of her, is on a 5 piece kit. Kick, snare, hi tom, lo tom, floor tom.

Meh.

Show me a video of her on a wraparound monster-kit like Neil played. Kick(s). Snare. 3 rack toms. 2 or 3 floor toms. Bongoes. Congas. Blocks. Pads. Piccolo snare. Couple dozen ride, crash, splash overheads. Let's see how she does there.

I trust the boys...but a 5 piece is a LOT different than a Rush kit.

You don't need a loaded double kit to be good drummer and play a Rush song. She appears to be very technical and I'm confident she will pull it off.... as I'm sure Geddy and Alex are, or they would not be going forward with it.

Anyone expecting that there will be a direct 100% replacement for Peart is going to be disappointed. It can't be done, and they are not trying to do it.

She injured her right foot and had to learn to play with the left foot days or weeks before going on tour with Jeff Beck.
