Sonny would like to publicly thank our vets!
I also went visiting Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial
it was so touching.......
The memorial, built in 1962, is visited by more than one million people annually. Accessible only by boat, it straddles the sunken hull of the battleship without touching it. Historical information about the attack, shuttle boats to and from the memorial, and general visitor services are available at the associated USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center, which opened in 1980 and is operated by the National Park Service. The sunken remains of the battleship were declared a National Historic Landmark on 5 May 1989.
Oil leaking from the sunken battleship can still be seen rising from the wreckage to the surface of the water. This oil is sometimes referred to as "the tears of the Arizona

here is sonny in the same water couple of years ago...in hawaii ...mahalo ..........just think the planes flew right over Dimond Head (behind me)..

I have a relative im very close to,in fact she is like my second daughter, her husband's father was a helicopter pilot and he was KIA in Cambodia in 1970. It was the day before Memorial Day,so that day always holds a special meaning for her husband. He was six months old when his dad died and he holds the thoughts of what life would have been like had his dad come home close to his heart. He posted a picture of his daughter sitting at her grandfathers grave, the baby was two and a half at the time. His dad had a twin who is developmentally disabled from birth,my surrogate son in law as i call him always takes him to visit his brothers grave. When you hear these stories first hand they take on a whole new meaning. My neighbors mother is often at his house, this woman's brother was just 18 when he was kllled in action in 1968 in Viet Nam. The brother and this woman's husband had met while they were enlisting in the Marine's. The guy who was killed had introduced his new friend to his sister. He never made it home but his friend and sister married. My neighbors mom told me the whole story, how they named there son after her brother, how the death impacted her family
