Memories of a great friend............

My sympathies to you and your friends family, it is a great reminder to stay close with those we love and also to try and keep up with regular maintenance on ourselves which too many of us put off.

Yeah - The circle of life. So sorry for your loss but glad you shared for all of us to read. Friends like you guys always know the other is still there if needed and at a moments call. We should always take a few moments out of our lives to keep in touch with those that mean something to us. Life is short no matter how long it is. All we really have are the people in it. The other stuff is just window dressing. Prayers to you and all others left behind. He’s in Gods hands now.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and the story. I am very sorry for your loss, but I hope those old pictures brought a smile to you - they sure did to me. Also, know that what defines friendship is in the heart, not how much you may see each other. Don't beat yourself up; simply cherish the memories you had.

I probably looked at those pictures and a few others a hundred times over the last few days. And you're right, they did bring a smile to my face !! I shared the ones I posted with Sam's sons and they loved them too. A lifetime of memories.....mostly great ones.

Oh, this sucks, man...
I have been there. Many of us have...You get busy and time goes by so damn fast. Losing a buddy is traumatic. I have not been through exactly this thing, I have lost close family members though.
I know it does not directly compare but I recall when my Brother in law moved away. It hurt as bad as when my best friend moved away when I was a kid.

One of my oldest friends passed away this week from a sudden heart attack at age 61. We've known each other over 50 years and our families are very close. Sometimes we'd go months without speaking due to the hectic pace of life and our families' busy schedules. I look back now and say why didn't I reach out more and try to spend time together. I know I shouldn't beat myself up over it, but I still feel guilty and angry that I didn't and can't spend more time with him. The moral of the story is reach out to your family and friends. Don't put off spending time with them and telling them you love them. Cause you just never know when it's all over.

Here's a couple of pics from back in the old days. It was a summer day in upstate New York in either 1980 or 1981. That's my first 70 Satellite convertible that I bought for $400 and drove through 4 years of college. I'm in the middle with the big mop of curly hair. My buddy Sam who passed away is on the left. Our other buddy Arty is on the right. Arty and I did a few shots of Jack Daniels with Sam's three sons tonight. He was a great guy. RIP Sam. Miss you buddy.
