Midwest Mopars in the Park 2025

We spent Friday and Saturday at Farmington Mopars In The Park. We have gone every year since 1987 and IMO, this was the best one by far! I am so glad it moved back to Farmington even though it is an hour farther for me. The weather was near perfect with a little haze from the Canada fires but all in all a great time. Got to see a bunch of people from past shows and met a lot of new people. The best thing was I never heard a crying word from anyone and everyone seemed to be happy with the move. The Fair board did a great job helping the volunteers and club members preparing the grounds. Much better than the lack of help from Stillwater. Seemed like most of the swappers were back unlike the 30 percent that didn't show up last year. I have no idea how many show cars were there but the Charger drew tons of comments even though there were probably close to fifty 68 Chargers there.
Sorry, I didn't take any pictures. (I refuse to own a smart phone) I guess you can't survive these days without one since that was the only way you could vote in the classes these days. I get it since they don't have to spend time tallying votes since they are done instantly now.
I don't compete for trophies so not a issue for me and I don't have to spend a lot of time trying to pick the best in each class.
I spent both days walking thru the swappers (even though I don't need anything) and ogling the show cars and even had time for a few cold ones so can't ask for more than that. If you live the Mopar life and were not there, you missed a great weekend.

Guards were an option, front or back.

I sold Friday and Saturday. Parts sales were slower than I’ve seen in quite some time. Not the event’s fault certainly. Vendors around me commented about similar results. Foot traffic wasn’t bad but it’s apparent discretionary spending is off based on my limited experience. I sold at Cedar Rapids a few weeks ago and saw the same thing. I did sell a car I’d brought to move. Everyone was pleasant and seemed to be enjoying the event. My only complaint: getting in and buying swap spaces was a painful experience this year. That’s never happened there before. Fair amount of confusion, double selling spaces, space numbering errors and spaces were smaller than before. I know it’s all volunteers but it isn’t like this was their 1st year putting on the event. I do appreciate the club efforts. Definitely prefer the Farmington location.

I did see your cars. Very Nice!
As for my car, it was not there in 2006 since I built it in 2014. But is was there in 2016. It won it's class that year and also some recognition from the MOPAR top ten team. Then again in 2018. I have not competed since then. I do the "display only" thing now. Here are a couple pics.

I will have to look through our photo’s, now you mention the award, I remember seeing your car. We carried on to Charger 50th in Detroit.
All first Generation owners took a cruise to the Viper Plant were we were given a personal guided tour of the plant. Nice to be able to talk to people actually assembling the cars by hand.

I have seen some people asking so I am going to try to answer some of the most common questions we get after the show.

Q: What was the registered car count
A: For registered cars we had 909 this last weekend. That is the most we have had since 2019 when we had 1069. As a side note, a hand count of the cars at the show came up with 1156, this would include cars that did not register at registration.

Q: Will we post a winners list
A: We usually only post the winners list in our club newsletter. The reason for this is that we feel it is not appropriate to advertise on the internet our participants names and the cars that they own. So the best way to get see the complete winners list is to become a member (which has other benefits), and read it in the July newsletter.

Q: Will we keep the show at the Dakota County Fair grounds?
A: Yes, we have an agreement with the fairgrounds to keep the show there through 2030

Q: When will next years show happen
A: It is always the weekend after memorial day, so next year that will be May 29th - 31st.

I will post some more when I get the info.

That is me in the picture behind my gold 1964 440. Had a great time at the show and found a bell housing dust cover in the swap. Saved on shipping. The weather was perfect and I am looking forward to next year!
