I would think that his enlistment time of two years was not unusual; that was the minimum time before release of conscripted members. Elvis Presley served two years.

True but the AF even during that time did not draft their members as it was voluntary as I understand it. By the time he finished Tech School and reported to his first duty assignment, it would have been close to a year left if that were the case. Army was a whole lot different beast back then as well. But I may be wrong also...cr8crshr/Bill
