Say it ain't so. This is Yahoo fake news right? Garbage carts on display, snow on roof, and golf-cart sized garage. Porch so small the carts barely fit. I can get 1100 square in Willow Glen for that and at least the weather is good.

Don't make me sick my sled dogs on you.. LOL

Typical price anywhere within 10 miles of downtown. Why I live in the sticks!

That's still about 800,000 Freedom Bucks™. At least I'd get to smell my trash every time I go through the door.

Were getting expensive up here .

I don’t believe it. Maybe in Vancouver - maybe.....

Since when did Vancouver BC become San Francisco????

Do you think it could be due to the film industry up there? I know a ton of tv shows and movies are shot around that area. Maybe its become not San Fran but Hollywood. Check out this link.. http://www.whatsfilming.ca/

The market has been crazy here in the Toronto area up until about september or so. My dad's small 1500 sqtf bungalow jumped from about 400k to possibly 800k im less than a few years, mostly due to the nice area he lives in.
Even our own house probably jumped from 500k to over 800k at the peak in less than a few years and we are in a rural area 60 miles from Toronto.
A million for a house in Toronto doesn't really buy much imo.

My wife and I used to watch "House Hunters" and "Love it or List it'.

Nearly all of them had a $400,000 budget, and some of the houses were like 1200 sq/ft.

Yikes!

Vancouver is one of the most expensive places to live , the reason being id foreign (china) investors buying up all the property
so 1 million collar home is basically a tear down for the land. now they put a extra tax on foreign buyers.so they started buying up in Toronto. Here in Montréal because of the French language and threat of separation from Canada , the houses our affordable. but it is quickly chnaging

Toronto house prices are just crazy. Most people wouldn't believe the **** you get for a million bucks. You want that homeless guy's cardboard box ... $500,000.. vancouver gets all the Chinese money but I never could explain Toronto. Even back in the '70's I worked with a guy transferring from Montreal to Toronto. Sold his house in Montreal for 32K - paid 110 for roughly the same in Toronto. In the late 90's I got transferred into the area from Ottawa - I could buy half the house for twice the money - we went further out. I don't get the average people buying in Toronto - they sacrifice lifestyle and quality of life when they have to pay that kind of money.

snow on roof,

I don't get this comment. When it snows it covers everything, not just the ground. And snow on the roof means the insulation is doing its job. No snow on the roof usually indicates a "grow house" !!

That is insane! I'm lovin Oklahoma 2500 sqft custom home for under 300k.

that's why the y call it a torontotued (attitude) people so misarrable because there salving to the bank th live and have no life or possibility of young people owning a house. starting price condo in Toronto must be like 500000

We always wondered what the salaries were for those folks who were buying 400K shacks. Sometimes they'd tell the occupation, and we'd think "Really, a dental hygienist makes 200K in Canada?"

I also thought it was interesting (and maybe fixed) that quite a few were real estate professionals. WTF would I hire a realtor if I was a realtor?

Hey, up here in the REAL north prices are high. We sold our 10 year old trailer for $180,000, prices went up after that and there's lots of trailers for over $200K. Things are worse just north of me in Yellowknife. LOTS of average houses there for over $500K AND it actually gets cold here. My average winter heating bill is over $500 per MONTH, January and February usually around $800 but we've had months over $1000.
Google Yellowknife real estate, probably some interesting reading there.
