If you’ve ever been to Vancouver you’d see why home prices are som expensive. It’s economically one of the most vibrant places in Canada, and visually it’s astonishingly beautiful. They have it all up there. Weather not withstanding they have incredible natural beauty. Besides that it’s had and has a huge influx of Chinese and Korean immigrants that buy several properties and pay cash for, them. Vancouver is the SF of Canada. Love it up there. Very expensive though.

I just had this Custom 2400+ sq ft 4 bd 2.5 ba full brick home built in Oklahoma for 285k. When I say custom I mean granite countertops, travertine tile and hardwood flooring throughout. 2 car attached garage. This would probably be a 2+ million dollar home up there. The best part is that we get all 4 seasons

Northern Jersey, Bergen County is brutal. Mike's house would easily be $800k here and real estate taxes $15-20k depending on the town. Ridiculous. But that's the price you pay to be 15 minutes from NYC.

It's all relative...Yes our per capita income is less but we have a higher quality of living. We live like we make 4X+ as much because the costs are so much lower.

Think about it people!

Just because people make a high 6 figure income doesn't mean anything when you have to live in high cost areas. It means that all that money you are making is just going right back out the door.

Lol, I'll make you a hell of a deal today, it's all granite tops new appliances, hard wood and terrazzo... Old house but updated in the last few years...
30 minutes to downtown, plus you would get to drive your RR about 300 days a year!!!

imagine your work for post Canada here in Montreal and you make 27 $ hr not bad money
a condo in and around town 200k 300k depending on your taste.and cheaper if you want.
then you transfer to Toronto or Van the salary is the same so .... Its cheaper to learn how to speak french

500-600k in Ottawa gets you a damn nice house. 4-5 bedroom, 2 car garage etc. Would have to be in the suburbs but still.

I live in a town called Oakville 50 minutes west of Toronto and and new stacked townhouses here are now running 800 k .
My first town home owned 24 years ago was 1380 sq ft main living floors plus a basement sold recently for 769 k .
House prices are going insane here as well .

Say it ain't so. This is Yahoo fake news right? Garbage carts on display, snow on roof, and golf-cart sized garage. Porch so small the carts barely fit. I can get 1100 square in Willow Glen for that and at least the weather is good.

I'm calling bullshit on that one. I've lived here my hole life and a semi would have to be in the the most desirable area possible to bring that money... even then...

I agree no way that picture shows a million dollar home

Can't comprehend paying that much to live in snow country.

check this place out if its still on the market,148 Ruston Lakeshore, listed for 424900 n sold for 575000 put an offer on it at 465000,so this is how crazy prices can get.we sold our house north of the GTA for 1.5 millon n 23 years of living there n paid 200000 for it why not sell???.bought in south western ontario for a fifth of the price n a lot cheaper living here.

You guys realize all of our structures are built from snow don't you? You have to understand the technology it takes to make them last year round. It's not too long ago we all had plain little igloos.

Eventually they got bigger and family's could enjoy privacy in separate rooms. But alas they still appeared to be snow houses from the outside.

Then a new system was developed and wala, the million dollar homes you see today took over the market. No more $20,000 igloos available now. They all appear to be modern houses like the rest of the world, but they cost! :)

Oh, and Banff.........some of the most expensive igloos around here!
