Min. Vacuum required for Air Grabber

long story short, the Air Grabber on my '71 Satellite stopped opening a while back, I replaced the actuator and it worked for a while but has stopped opening again. I have checked vacuum at the carb (15" at idle) and at the actuator (11" at idle). If I open the Air Grabber by hand, it will close quickly and pulls down nice and tight. I've ordered another replacement actuator but was curious if there is a minimum vacuum required for the Air Grabber to function correctly. Thanks

Well 15 is plenty but it should be 15 at the vacuum tree on the intake and 15 at the actuator u have a leak somewhere

Mine would open up just fine with 8"-9" manifold vacuum. Your vacuum at the actuator & at the manifold should be the same. It sounds like you've got a leak...maybe in one of the hoses and/or where one of those little brass tube inserts connects two sections of lines.

Ive had switches leak also

All the above, also make sure the electrical solenoid under the dash is energized and holding vacuum.

i agree that I have a small leak, possibly at the switch. I've checked vacuum on both sides of the vacuum canister and both are at 15", so the canister is good. The 11" signal that I see it at the actuator, after the switch. Even with 11" though, I would think that the actuator would operate, I think that I've also got an actuator issue as well. I've read that some of the aftermarket actuators are known to have problems, I'm going to install the new one and see how it acts. I also intend to check all lines/switch for leaks as well. Thanks
