I have started trying my hand at shooting photos on 35mm film with a simple little every-day-carry point and shoot camera recently. I had the sense to bring it with me to Mopars at Merits this year, and just got the photos back. Here is a selection of some of my favorites! I took many more, so if you were out there and are curious if your car was in one of the pics, feel free to chime in.

Great photos !! But, I gotta ask..... what is 35mm film ? What is a point-and-shoot camera ? {tongue-in-cheek} Pretty soon you'll come up with some fairy tale about a place called Fotomat !!

I was going to carve some stone tablets, but they were a bit heavy to bring to the show haha. The camera is loaded up with some black and white film now for my upcoming trip to England/Ireland/Scotland, and I got my wife one with some color film in it so we can try both out. One day I hope to get some pics of the Charger out in the wild after she's moving under her own power! For now, back yard it is.

Way cool! Keep them coming!

Curious how you got the digital copies. Did the processing place provide them or did you scan the prints?

The film lab provides developing and digital scanning as their basic service, then they offer prints, etc. if you so choose. It's a local(ish) film lab so I am happy to support them rather than ship the film out of state. Pretty simple process, and it's a refreshing exercise in patience in todays "need everything right now" atmosphere. I like that when the scans come back, it it reminds you to reflect on recent fun events, whereas photos taken on a phone are checked/shared right then and there, then generally forgotten about.

Earlier on the same roll, I got these ones out at the St. Petersburg Pier on a recent birthday adventure that I had honestly forgotten about!

I WISH we still had these! Labs are few and far between now, but there are still some really good ones in operation.
The last one we had in our neighborhood converted to a cigarette hut. Pretty good prices for smokes actually. Probably cuz of the low overhead. LOL

Flash bulbs ! Do they have the square ones that rotate as you snap a picture ? I need one for my Kodak camera !
Those Kodak Instamatics were so bad. Plastic lenses and a negative as big as your thumbnail. At least with 35mm. the negatives were big enough and the lens quality was good enough that you could enlarge them with some quality.

I have just been using a super cheap Kodak Ektar H35, they are about $40 brand new and shoot in half frame so you get 72+ exposures out of a 36exp roll. I have a very tiny budget for this side hobby haha. Figured if I get through half a dozen rolls and am still really enjoying it, I might start poking around for something a little more capable.

35mm SLR's are coming back and popular. There are photo labs online that can develop and print. Used cameras are everywhere now that we have E bay and Marketplace. Heck even at pawn shops and cheaper yet at Goodwill. It is sometimes tough to justify when you can take come great photos with your phone. I have an old 35mm SLR and a couple lenses as well as a Digital SLR and I keep using my phone because I have it right in my hand.

And my phone can take some pretty amazing photos.

Phone cameras are phenomenal these days, honestly that is why I stopped carrying my bulky DSLR camera around. The hassle of carrying it was not worth the difference in quality (as an amateur at least) as of about 4-5 years ago.

I was specifically seeking the imperfect and nostalgic feel of film, without having to go back and edit my photos one by one to "fake" it. Decided it was a pretty low cost risk and made the leap! I pre-pay online then mail my film to my local place simply because I don't want to have to drive across the bridge into Tampa and deal with traffic haha. They get stuff shipped to them from all over the place, as they do very good work.

Yep, I get that. 35 mm SLR 50 mm Vivatar lens if I remember correctly.
