I'm putting my newly-rebuilt 318 poly back into my 65 Coronet. Somehow, looking through the multitudes of pictures I took before removing the engine, I did not get a good shot of the motor mounts. I have a new set from Schumacher.

Can someone tell me if the brackets that attach to the ears on the block go toward the front of the engine,or the rear? Do they both go the same way? I ask because while I was searching (no luck) I ran across one model that was supposed to have one side towards the front and one towards the rear.

Anyone have a 318 B-Body they can check for me? I'm kind of in a bind, got the engine hanging on the hoist over the mounts.

Sorry mine is in the shop having rearend work done....I'm sure someone will help out.

I sort of got it down on the mounts, but it just doesn't seem to sit right. I followed this:

http://engine-swaps.com/Pages/InstructionPages/B63V8.html

which shows them to the back of the engine. It appears to show the rear ears lined up pretty much with the two insulator bolts, but mine doesn't line up that way. the trans is bolted to the engine and the trans mount in the back so I can't really move the engine fore and aft. Maybe I'll post some pics tomorrow, I'm exhausted and need a beer.:D

I'm thinking if you have an original poly 318 it will not be the same as the conversion mounts.

Thanks for the link kryslerkid. I missed that because I searched for "mounts" instead of "mount".

Initially, I had the engine in, with the brackets in front of the ears, and the mounts were canted (see pic below). That didn't look good so I lifted it up and put them both behind. Well tried anyway. They don't line up well that way either. I'll have to mess with it some more tomorrow afternoon (first chance I'll get) and see what I can figure out.

I noticed reading in the link, that it sounded like the op was useing the Schumacher mount and was having a problem also. Good luck!
