I did a search and found nothing however; I seem to recall a thread/post talking about not using and MSD 6AL with a stock Mopar Electronic Dist?? Anyone see a down side to doing this. I have upgraded to a Blaster2 coil. I can run an MSD dist but would rather stay with the Mopar piece for the look.

Fire away...

I've been running the MP electronic distributor with an MSD 6AL, BTM, & Blaster II for years. I'm now looking into the FireCore 50 distributor, but I've never had a single issue with the stock distributor.

Yes you can run it, the msd is an electronic controller and can run any electronic distributor even one that was points and has been converted, just match the connectors on the distributor and the MSD box and you're good to go. blaster coil is perfect hook it up and run.

Don't know what you have now for a Mopar dist. but if you looking to buy I would suggest a Firecore. Easy to adjust the mechanical advance with just two screws. Most of the the Mopar Performance dist do not have an easy way to limit your mechanical advance if you need to.

Mopar Electronic. I tore it down, removed the vacuum advance, fastened the plat and set the mechanical advance at about 9-10*. That Crossram likes about 24* initial and 34* total.

Something to watch for with a mopar dist and msd.

If the car is a runner, get a timing light and know what your initial advance is. Once you hook up the msd, make sure the timing hasn't changed. Occasionally, the polarity is flipped and your timing setting will be fubar'd from where they were. Swap polarity of the wires going to the MSD and see if it's the same as originally observed.
