Seems like the Dynamax mufflers are very popular for B bodies, and they sound good, dont get me wrong. My 70 Charger has these mufflers on it, but i have had for many years Hooker Aerochambers on a 360 Ram and have always liked the sound. has anyone here used or have opinons about the Hooker AeroChambers? i am thinking about switching to them.

Here is a vid of my car idling

Dynomax is good. I have those on one car. Hooker Aerochambers on one car, Flowmaster on three cars and basic quieter Walker turbo mufflers on the rest of my cars. They all sound good on each car.

Sounds good. Are you looking for something louder or more throaty?

more throaty. seems like the growl goes away when its rev'd up. sounds great at idle, but when rev'd gets quiet. maybe i am asking for something i dont really want, which is drone at cruise.

Flowmaster Delta 50’s

i did the flowmaster delta 50 thing years ago on a truck i had, liked it, it helped but i did get droning at speed. id like to stay away from the flowmaster sound. comparing like for like, i liked the Aerochamber better. but ive also never owned anything but trucks and the body resonance is different.

If you care about HP and Torque minutia, that can be a factor to consider also. I run the straight through design 2.5" Dynomax Welded Ultraflow backing my mild cam 451 and I like the performance and don't dislike the sound. I have one friend running Hooker Aerochambers on his 68 Barracuda that has a worked over newer Magnum motor and those mufflers sound totally amazing with his motor and are a lot more aggressive sounding than the Dynomax Ultraflows. So for fun, I bought a set and installed them on my car. The Aerochambers did not sound as good as with his motor and I also felt a noticeable loss of seat of pants torque. I removed those after only 2 weeks, put my old mufflers back on and remain satisfied.

interesting. thank you for the detailed explaination. i do care about the pants dyno.

its funny, my 360 magnum has the Hookers, but its not been worked over. one of these days i will work it over when my boy gets old enough to do it with me.

Flowmaster Delta 50’s

Wow, those sound BITCHIN' with your motor. I wish my car sounded like that. I need a more aggressive cam! Killer looking black paint job too. My brother used to run the Delta 50's on his 72 Camaro with 350 small block. On his car they sounded very throaty, droning, and not even half as good as what I hear in that video.

3 1/2 in/out hooker aeros on this car. I like em a lot now that I'm used to em.
I expected them to sound like the Flowmasters I have on my other car, but the aeros really don't, even tho they are a chambered muffler too. Also, no drone that I ever noticed.

yeah the Aerochambers don't sound anything like Flowmasters to me either on the few cars I've heard them on. I actually do like the sound of Flowmasters a lot, but wanted to maximize performance and went with a non-chambered design (Dynomax Ultraflow).
