I was there in 2004 and 2005. I really hoped that it would rival the Southern CA CPW Spring Fling in terms of car show and swap meet with the racing being the icing on top.
The swap meet was not great, the car show count was better than Sacramento but a fraction of the Van Nuys turnout.
I want to support the shows. This one was poorly promoted. I only heard of the date yesterday when I saw this thread!

Kern dog I was there one time in 2004 with my 69 Bee & 70 Satellite for the car show. It was my first show after restoration of the Bee. We drove up from Phx. and enjoyed a 3rd place for the Bee as judged by Galen Govier. So take care and keep supporting the shows.

I love going to car shows. They are like boobies, I even like the small ones.

I also don't get the "patina" thing. When I see some Youtuber dragging a clapped-out car from a forest or ancient garage and hear them exclaim how much they LOVE the patina, it sounds like they're just trying to convince themselves that their questionable purchase was worthwhile. I don't get rat rods either...

I never cared for monolithic paint schemes, everything painted
all the chrome, not a fan of 'all black wheels' either, even aftermarket wheels,
I dislike body colored painted steel wheels with a passion
I think all cars need a lil' bling

but many of them, they have molded plastic/poly bumpers
& are body color etc.

I had the bumpers painted body color when the car was painted, cause it is a beater street strip car that didn't need $600 ea bumper rechroming, but did need some correction. Nowadays, they don't need $1200 ea rechromed bumpers either.
If I DO do something with em, I'm thinking glass bumpers with a chrome wrap.

Agreed. So overdone and boring, "murdered out" cars lack imagination and contrast. The Grand National was all black (except for a little chrome grille surround and emblems on the '86) but it really needs some contrasting wheels to catch the eye. Centerlines and other shiny wheels stand out from the blackness and look great.

Agreed. The last thing a black car needs is black wheels. I don't like black wheels generally.

We used to go to the Mopars at strip show every year from 2010 until they changed it the muscle cars at the strip. There was a decline in swap meet vendors and less mopar car show also. So we stopped going.

Sometimes it is the word of mouth that makes or breaks a show. The same principle works with restaurants, bars and night clubs. Once word gets around that a place is not big and active, it seems to head in a downward spiral.
For all of the people that live on the west coast, it is pathetic that we cannot put on a car show that is even 1/3 the size of the Carlisle show.
Our biggest is the Spring Fling in Southern CA and at best, there are 800 cars in a 2 day show and of those 800, maybe 600-650 are the same cars there for both days. If they were to count all cars total, there may be 500 of them. The swap meet is bigger than all the other California Mopar shows combined but compared to Carlisle and the Ohio show, Spring Fling is a fraction of the size.
I was at Carlisle last year. That show was massive. The swap meet was too. It seems to be holding steady and that is great.
I really do wish that our shows out here were bigger. I went to a Bay Area show a couple weeks back. It was not as big as their previous shows but that was partly because the club that hosted the event is reorganizing and getting up to speed.
The Las Vegas show was on asphalt, not my favorite platform for a show. The show field has no shade either. The racing was a great feature. I like the autocross and other stuff they offer.

I’m with you Greg, be it car shows or boobies, I’m equal opportunity. I do like beater cars myself, and I’m glad that others have embraced them too. A car that you can drive without worry is freeing. I’m not a fan of fake patina, or clear coating a rusty car but people do it and that’s fine. I enjoy variety. I quickly tired of car shows in the 90s where it looked like a new car dealer from 30-40 years prior. A bunch of identical cars with exception of color, it gets old.

I say do what ever makes you happy with YOUR car

We went to the first one drove all night got there 8-9 in morning. Thank goodness we brought food as there wasn't any. We still enjoyed the show, we went for the next 10 years the best one was when all of the SS Darts and Barracudas ran. The last one that I went to (I needed to buy lots of parts for my Charger) was I believe the second Musclecars at the Strip. It sucked the venders were pissed, "canceled" concert downtown also supposedly dance party at the D didn't happen. The only way that I will go back if all of the SS mopars show up to race.
