Dangit people! My big ol 69 Sport Satty lost to a late model Stang this afternoon.
Im only packing a 318 4bbl (eddy intake and 600cfm) but I'm still sore. I did get the initial jump on him but he came back in spades. I know the stang is lighter and fuel injected and all that but i simply must not let this happen again! Haha.

Maybe its time for better heads, cam and rear

Should go like this

It can be "rectified real easy", how much do you have, how fast do you want to go &/or want to spend ??...LOL...

You still have the cooler car

Right on! A lot of newer cars can probably beat my old Belvedere but I don't care. My old Mopar gets 10X the attention, waves, thumbs up, etc. when I'm out and about. I see so many new Mustangs, Camaros, etc. every day I don't pay any attention to them, but if I see an old Mopar I'll check it out every time.

A 70 year old geezer in a base 6 cyl Mustang could beat a 318 without trying. You should no better & as such deserve 50 lashes.

I know. It was too tempting to race him. He weaved around traffic to catch up to me and get along side me at the light. I'm laying low around these parts...for now. Plus it's kinda stupid to race during the day on a busy street. I'm usually a real slow cruiser.

I'm yanking your man card, not for losing, but for street racing!!!!

I had a pesky mustang at my rear 1/4 panel till half way through 3rd gear....I pulled him on top but that thing was not giving me any free ride....was a lot of fun!!

Yeah, I'm adding rock salt. I'm sure your aware of the consequences, so I won't go there.

I get the exact opposite here ....I can be parked next to 2 new mustangs which I was last nite and people flock to them and just breeze past my car ...

A turbo would help and it's cheaper than building a big block. (I know no replacement for displacement but sometimes the cost is just to much). Not to mention if you get the jump on him the turbo would help keep you out front.

Shouldn't have gotten into with him. Now he is bragging that he beat a HEMI to all his friends. Should have just acted like it wasn't worth the gas to put your mopar up against his piece of junk.

Big block it starting at 440 cubes or better and beat everyone!
No kill like over kill is what I say!

LESSON 1: the temptation was too great for you to ignore and you paid the price.

LESSON 2: now you have to get some respect and reputation back. Since you put up the scorecard, i'm guessing you are going to try and rectify that.

LESSON 3: if you wanna play, you have to pay (upgrading your motor).

Years ago I had a 70 charger r/t 440-4 speed 4 bbl and also a 74 RR 360 4 bbl auto. Both were stock motors. A friend and I decided to race them and I drove the charger. We both got a good start and I was a little more than surprised when the RR was staying right with me just a fender length behind. A good small block can hold it's own with the right mods, but don't bite off more than you can chew.

And wouldn't you know it? Last night I JUST happened to run into a guy who works at a speed shop near where I live.

Yeah but they were a bunch of 12 year old girls I bet lol

actually no rite when I got there it was some older guy and his kid they looked at the mustangs then got near my car and said that has to be a 350 there .....kinda hard to miss the big 440 magnum six pack sticker on the air cleaner

I see that allot at cruise nights, there could be a bunch of kickass muscle cars and the new Challenger, Camaro and Mustang get more attention.
Granted they are usually younger people and I have nothing against these cars, but what I don't get is what are these cars doing at a classic car show or cruise in anyways?
