My 69 Satellite pro-touring hopeful

Not a bad guess looking at the car from 1,100 miles away!

Hmmm... Replace with pocketed slider for the same 2" of drop. Someone give me permission to by a plasma cutter...

Thanks! Me and a buddy did his with a welder, sawlz-all and friction wheel grinder combo, came out pretty clean and even cleaner with a little chassis black paint all in about a afternoon's worth of work. The cars hook changed dramatically for the better, night and day difference instant split personality Dr. Jekel and Mr. Hyde.

Hey grab, do you have any pics of your rear tires? I am looking at running the same setup on my 69 roadrunner, my inner fender is already rolled flat. I really want to run a 295 but on an 18x8 rim I'm not sure how it will look or perform...
do you want to get a bigger wheel...I know there is plenty of room on 18x9.5 somewhere on here there was a guy who ran 18x12 stock...but a 295's on 8" might be to big...I'm running 18x9.5 on all 4 corners with a 285/35 Nitto NT05's

Pull the lowering blocks out, and put in a pair of sliders. The rear will be about a inch taller than with the blocks, the rear fender lip would be almost even with the rims lip. The rear springs will work like they should and the car will feel that much better.

Do the sliders just go in the rear? Does it just provide stock ride, compression, rebound, etc with just a lowered stance? or do they improve anything?

Yea I was twisted, I would run the 9.5's in the back not 8's. I would say you can run a 295 on the 9.5 right?

They are designed to replace the rear leaf spring shackles. Essentially, instead of forcing the rear spring eye to move in an arc as the spring moves (as shackles do), the sliders allow the end of the spring to travel directly rearward as the spring is compressed. This has the effect of smoothing out the spring as the rate does not change through the travel.

Thanks, I had never heard of those!

Do the sliders just go in the rear??

Yes and No, they replace the rear shackle and must be secured. I suggest welding them.

Does it just provide stock ride?

No, they don't or shouldn't alter ride quality, however many say that the rear gets smoother because the shocks work better or more efficiently. The rear will sit about 1in lower than stock if there just welded too the top of the frames rail, If you pocket them into the frame rail it will lower the rear aprx another inch or 2in total lower than stock.

Compression, rebound, etc with just a lowered stance? or do they improve anything?

Compression and rebound are controlled by the shock absorbers, adj. shocks allow you too tune in the hit.... Sliders help the front spring segment too remain straight and as flat as possible. This makes them as stiff as they should be, the result is the pinion has a harder time climbing the ring gear rotating the axel housing flexing/bending the front segment. Sliders allow for more weight too transfer over the rear tires without them getting blown off as easily, because the rear spring segment now rolls freely instead of binding in its arc.

HTH.

yea...Nitto suggest a 295/45 on a 9.5 rim and a 10" with 295/40 or 295/35 but really I think you'll be ok either way

Great looking car. How has the FiTech EFI been? I'm leaning that way too. My neighbor just bought one for his Nova. My brother has put a couple on his customers cars recently. Even a dual quad setup on a early 70 Cuda drag car.

What back space and off set are you running?

very nice, love the car, FI-TECH FUEL INJECTION is the bomb super user friendly an awesome. 285s up front...damm thats wide for up front. nice job.

Looking good man! I am running 265's up front and I thought that was a lot...lol

originally I bought this set up and just powder coated them black...then my boy Dan the man tried the rears up front and they fit perfect...so I'm running a 285/35 Nitto NT05 on all 4...the FiTech is awesome BUT you should know that with the AC and FiTech the old alternator crapped out...so I ordered a new power master and am waiting for that so it can keep up with the juice thirsty car...but man does this car really handle great...I will always be a huge fan of the Hotchkis TVS system...best bang for buck IMO...

I run a taller 275-40-18 up front on a wheel with 4 1/2" back space. The tires only rub at the inside at the frame rail.
