Can someone please tell me what color the ignition wire is under the dash of my 70 RR? Also is there a better wiring diagram then the one on mymopar.com? Thanks all.
Coming off the ignition switch connector, the start circuit is yellow, run circuit is brown. They both run to the bulkhead connector. From there, the yellow goes directly to the starter relay, the brown goes to one side of the ballast resistor.
I have one of these hanging over my workbench. I do like the original wiring diagrams, but sometimes the big colored ones are a lot easier on the eyes.
For me, as i go through my wiring solving issues, I write really small what the wire does. I do it on the diagram next to the bulkhead and at any confusing intersections. Takes patience but if you keep at it, it will clear itself up a little.
Here's an idea of the effort I've put into understanding wiring of these cars. It's confusing for sure. What I do is pick a system (wiper motor, headlights, ignition switch) and just sit down and figure out where it all comes from and where it all goes. Then take notes as you do it and color code as necessary. For me, that's the only way to do it.
It looks confusing when u look at it, but just the act of building it makes I easier to look at.
