I never saw Nash Bridges when it was on network TV. Now that I signed up for Howdy $3/month, I can watch them all. I always thought it was Bahama Yellow. It looks yellowish-orange. Then I read this, but I can't believe it.

A few days later, the cars were transported up to San Francisco where the promo was shot. I can remember watching a video copy of the dailies back at our office in Burbank with Don and the producers. Everyone agreed that the Lemon Twist paint I so loved in person, looked awful on film. For whatever reason, it appeared washed out and oxidized.

As a result, before shooting of the pilot episode began, the cars were repainted in a deeper shade, Curious Yellow, which to my eye didn’t look as good in person, but did better under film lights.

I know all about the '70 'Cudas modded to look like '71s. I like Miami Vice better stylistically but I like the 'Cuda better than the fake Ferrari in Vice.

Don't go to TV Studio people for color codes on the Nash Bridges Cuda.... It wasn't Curious Yellow, It was Bahama Yellow...

Originally the cars were painted Lemon Twist yellow FY1 but on film the color washed out,so the cars were repainted a school bus yellow and they looked more like Lemon Twist on film. When Don Johnson saw the 71 Hemi Cuda convertible in FY1 Lemon Twist on a calendar he said I want that to be Nash Bridges car on the show. After he was informed that car was one of eleven built in 1971 and was a seven figure car, they set out to build replica cars for the show. There were four convertibles built for the show. Three were Barracuda convertibles, two were 71 cars, one was a 70. The fourth car was the camera close up car was a 70 340 Cuda convertible. All four were built to resemble the 71 Hemicuda convertible seen on the calendar by Don Johnson. There was a fifth car that was a 73 Barracuda hardtop with the roof cut off used to film a scene where the car was blown up. I got this information from a magazine article I read on the cars from the show years ago.

Those cars were built by Jeff Bobst from Waverly Iowa. Jeff is a great guy I've bought a lot of mopar parts from him over the years. What people don't know is the very short timeline he had to get those cars together and he hardly received any credit for it.

I have bought from him a couple times over the years. I never knew that.
Pretty cool the stuff you learn about guys.
Last time I was there we got to talking about his bikes overhead.
Great guy to deal with and more than fair on his prices.

Yep, that is for sure true.. Jeff is a friend. I bought my Polara from him last year. He's about 20 min. north of me. The guy has got some great stories and has bought, sold, and owned a butt load of cool cars.

If I remember correctly the magazine article said that he only had about a month to locate and build the four cars in time for them to be shipped to California for filming. That's a crazy timeline to make that happen. Try locating even one 70/71 Barracuda convertible, closing the deal and redoing the car for filming duties!

I'd heard before they were painted school bus yellow so they would "read" correctly on film.

The things they do with color correction for video would make your head spin. It was weeks here, getting things right for TNT for this job I'm working on in Miami. Looks goofy as **** in person but totally normal on screen.
