If you have one to sell please let me know here or PM. Must be in good shape. Radiator is a V8 4spd but I don't think that really matters.
Thanks
-Jeff

Jeff just curious are you having over heating problems without the shroud or do you just want one for looks? :edgy:

Hi Joe it's been on my list of misc stuff to get for the car in general, but when I sit in traffic it gets hotter than I'd like, about 215. So I want to see what difference it makes in that regard for sure.

I know there is a reproduction one for about $340 with the mounting brackets, but I thought I'd try to get off cheap this time. yeah... that never works.

Don't know if you have seen them but they are now repoped. The mounting brackets are also avalible.

Yeah thanks rrunner. I have seen those and while nice they are about $340 plus shipping. I may have found one for $200 with the brackets, just needs a repaint. If this doesn't work out I'll go reproduction.
Oh, as a side note I finally put my fan spacer on today and it runs much cooler. Got to about 190 in traffic which is great. Cant wait to get the shroud on there too.

If you go repo shop around I have seen the shrouds between $240-$260 and the brackets are $50

Jeff I think I have to find a shroud also. How's your car in traffic now that you have one installed?

you'll get 10 degrees cooler with a shroud. i might even have one around with brackets.

Like SSR says it's probably about ten degrees cooler in traffic. I went to a show yesterday and sat in line for about fifteen minutes and it got up to 190. Pretty much perfect. Before the shroud it could have been like 210.

Yep exactly what's happening to me, stays around 180 while moving but then at lights or in traffic it starts creeping up. :angryfire:

shroud

those repop shrouds are way over priced! don't buy the damn things. if people don't buy these over price parts, they either have to lower the price or get stuck with them.

Over priced....????

If you stop and concider the cost of design, material and tooling, It is not a cheap process to reproduce a vintage car item to a degree of quality equal to the original, and when you factor in the limited demand of an item such as a fan shroud in the market then you might start to understand why they are priced where they are. Trust me.... no one is getting rich off them.

I think they are priced fairly and for one, I am damm glad that there even avalible to us.

you don't know what your talking about! there made in china. when somebody saids trust me,watch out. i don't care if they make them or not. if you can't afford them, whats the use?

product of USA...

Funny how someone can offer knowledge.... without actually having any...!!!

All the metal repro shrouds I've seen are products of the USA...! Heres an example.... proudly manufactured in the USA.

Sounds like you need a cheaper hobby... or a better job...

fan shroud

Hey, smart a$$-,:First of all, i was saying the shroud was price to high. compare it to the prices on other shrouds on e-bay.Second thing ,every body wants a better job or a job. I just thankful i have a job compare to millions of people who don,t. Number three, this hobby is for everybody. No matter what your income is. These part companys, not all of them are charging to much for there parts, because they know there hard to find, not all of it is tooling or production costs. I know they have to make a dollar but they should not cater only to people with big bucks. I Hope this hobby does'nt become a money thing ,of it does the hobby will died for thousands of us. Most of us does this for the love it. Not for financal gain.Have a survey on this site about prices and about the hobby it self and where its heading. I would like to hear from other members..........

Mopar parts will always be a low demand item compared to Chevy stuff.

When a company makes a fan shroud for a 67-69 Camaro, they will probably sell five thousand of them. Make that same shroud for a 62-65 Dodge or Plymouth and they will sell a few hundred. Can you imagine the cost difference per unit in manufacturing a few hundred compared to five thousand? These costs get passed along to the buyer... this doesn't apply only to car parts. The parts end up being priced according to the total units made.

I'm just happy when I find something that is reproduced for these early cars, because it is not the norm. Paying $100 more than a universal fit or Chevy item is money well spent when you need original looking and fitting equipment.
