I just got my a/c set back that was restored by CAA and I am trying to mount it on the engine. Being that it is a 68 440 it has that cast iron bracket that goes on back of the compressor and bolts to the front two intake manifold bolts and the front of the head. I reassembled the compressor with the correct brackets and the brace on the rear. Everything is as it should be, I think, and then it is like a half an inch from those mounting holes. The front bracket goes over the top of the power steering bracket and the other front hole into the water pump where the alternator strap goes as well. It should be a simple install one would think, but is there something I missed. I cant think putting any shims or backing off the mounting bolts to the bracket is right thing to do, but I am puzzled. Any help or pictures would be appreciated.
