I am putting a 440 in my 69 Runner and hooking up air conditioning. Trying to make look as stock as possible, but I also want to run air grabber setup. Problem is that using the stock a/c compressor will not allow me to use the air grabber air cleaner. Even if I did not hook up the a/c right now, I still need the compressor to run the belt setup that I currently have. Any suggestions? smaller bullet style compressor?

I believe Classic Auto Air has a modern Sanden V-belt compressor and mounts that clear air grabber setups. Bouchillon may as well. They have been helpful to me, although I haven't had the best experience with their "perfect fit" systems. Call them and they can probably help you out.

Yup
As dpstark says
I purchased mine from Bouchillions (Mopar and Hemi only experts)
Sanden
See pics:

PS: yup, that IS a Hemi with AC

Super-bee-ski what brackets did you have to buy? were you able to use your other stock brackets for the ps and the alternator? my bracket setup looks a bit different than yours. do you remember what the compressor cost you?

You probably have the factory setup with the water pump belt idler pulley and a belt going to the power steering pump. Probably the "high mount" A/C style alternator brackets too. Looks like Ski has narrow belt pulley on his power steering pump and a water pump pulley that lines up with it used with the low mount, non-A/C alternator brackets. If you have the idler setup, the same A/C compressor and your stock pulleys should work. Call either supplier mentioned and they should be able to help you out. If you post a picture, we might be able to help more here too since pulley arrangements can vary considerably from car to car.

Most Sanden compressors can be had fro $150-$200.

i can post a picture if you can tell me how

here is a picture of the front of my motor

That's a stock A/C setup with the idler pulley on the water pump belt. Either company can get you brackets and a compressor to clear your air grabber setup.

Bouchillon is what you need. Here is a picture and specs - see post #10

Also, here is a picture of my actual engine. IMHO, it's the only way to go, as it keeps the top of the engine pristine and "clean". Note how the compressor is "hidden" under the alternator.

Here is a shot of it installed in the engine compartment. Very little of the AC compressor or plumbing can be seen.

Good luck whatever you decide...

I just ordered from bouchillon. what he recommended is a bit different than yours because compressor is on top but he says it will work with the grabber air cleaner and my existing brackets. supposed to be here tomorrow so i guess i will find out shortly
