I've been slowly putting the AC system back in operation and am having some problems understanding what I'm doing wrong and what could be wrong with the system.

In summary: New compressor (sanden 508 type R134), new condenser, new expansion valve and dryer, new hoses. Evaporator was/is OK. After chasing down a couple of leaks I was able to hold vacuum overnight at -25 plus a little.

Attempted to charge the system today by first- without the engine running opened the high pressure valve and "flooded" it with freon/oil- about 6 total ounces (per instructions from a website).

Closed the high pressure valve side started the car opened the low pressure gauge valve, ac on max, compressor engaged, took three cans of R134.

No cold air........shut the car down pressure on low side gauge with valve closed at about 30 PSI.

With car running, compressor engaged, low pressure side showing a vacuum measurement of just over -10.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated....this thing has about whipped me....and the cost of freon is outrages!

Hope this post makes sense....if it doesn't please it's because it's hot here (bouncing around the high 90's this past week) and inside the car

There is a blockage somewhere. Does it have an orifice tube or expansion valve? Check them first. The block should be somewhere upstream of the low side port.

Thanks Hemi Rebel...

Car is 67 Satellite, has expansion valve. I'll pull.

Big question. Will adding all that refrigerant oil into the suction or low pressure line lock up the 508 pump? The last I read Sanden compressors came charged with the proper amount of oil and have a total system capacity of 9 oz. of lub.. Maybe to much oil in the system? All instructions for servicing Sanden compressors can be found on their website.

Not sure if a car is the same. Did the pressures ever equalize on the gauges? Txv bulb mounted correctly on the evaporator outlet?
