Need Some Engine ID Help

I just got a 440, and need a little ID help. The engine casting number is 3698330 440 6, and the date is 11 2 1972. I was told the engine came from a 1972 Road Runner, but there's no partial VIN on the block. The pad stampings are J440, 1 or I, 9, and E. I know it's a 73 engine but that's about it. Thanks

double check that casting number. The only ones even close are 3698630, which is a 400 used from '73 -78 , and 3698830 which is a 440 used from '73 - '78. Sometimes the casting numbers are hard to read so that 330 could be a 830. with that date it wouldn't have been in the '72 runner. Could be a warranty replacement though which explains why no v.i.n. on the pad.

The owner was certain it came from a 72 Road Runner, so I was thinking it was a warranty engine made in 73.
