so, i have not been able to get right on my body work as i had hoped, and im still jostling the 65 for a proper spot to start the resto.

anyway, i have had to let the carcass sit out in the Socal sun, which usually is not an issue, but we have had a farily wet July over the last few weeks, wettest in over 130 yrs ive heard.

i went to air up a flat tire on her and noticed that the rust have really cropped up.

i hit it just now with a 4 to 1 Vinegar solution that ive heard will neutralize the corrosion.

but i need some advice on what to do after that, what product to put on the surface after i clean and DA the metal.

im not a body guy by trade, but my dad was pretty handy. he retired a while back, and gave me his tools, ive got a primer gun, and a couple of SATAs for paint.

i think i need to go epoxy primer, and then a sealer or what ever, not really in the know of what i need, but i want to do the best work i can, but i feel i need to protect the body a lot better than what im doing now.

i need to do a floor pan and truck, and then a US car tool sub frame kit, but that will not be for a year or so.

so any good advise 20150802_164029_resized.jpg is welcome!

Go to Home Depot and go to the paint dept. Get a product called Redi-Strip Phosphoric acid. It's dark green. Buy acouple of ZEP empty spray bottles and use the Phosphoric acid full strength
to remove the surface rust, and to "Phosphotize" the metal. Scrub with ScotchBrite. Follow the directions and you should be O.K. Prime it wihin 24hrs with a good two-part epoxy primer.
