Hello from Monroe, Wa. I have been a "viewing" member since 2024 just not a contributor. I have learned a lot from members posts and what I have learned has helped me work on and understand my project. I am not a mechanic by trade, but have worked in the automotive field for 35 years. I am a hobbyist at best. My neighbors think I must be an old car genius by getting some of these old cars running and driving again. I'm just stubborn I guess.

A couple years ago I bought a 66 Belvedere 4 door as a project for my son and I to work on as he wanted an older car for his first ride. Sadly, after 2 years he has decided he does not want to drive. Todays youth, go figure. I bought this car from the second owner, who bought it in 1974. Originally. it was purchased from Savage Chrysler/Plymouth in Seattle, 1966. When I bought it, it had been sitting since 1989. Time was cruel on this car and the floors were gone, as was most of the interior from parasitic rust.

I have found working on old cars to be therapeutic ( an often frustrating ) and the brain exercise I need. Definitely a lesson in patience. I will post some questions on a different thread that maybe someone can help me with.

Any other Mopar guys near me?

Welcome and post some pics :) And yeah.. i actually enjoy working on my car more than driving it.. I found this time that only working on it when i was in the mood helps, if i force it i ended up just annoyed

Let's see it.

I have always wanted to put an 80's 5th Ave interior in a 66/67 4 door B body.

Welcome from the central coast of Ca. And I agree, working on old cars is therapeutic and gets the grey matter working by solving puzzles.

As you can see, that is not a normal paint job. That is raptor bed liner paint. I did a Jeep with that and it turned out good. There was a lot of rust in this car, a lot of pitting. We just decided to cover it up ( I did address the rust ). The retro cop car look was exciting and we have garnered a lot of local attention with it. I have replaced both passenger doors and drivers front door. The rust on the inner portion of the door was not repairable and was amazed that the door skin held on. I restored the steel wheels ( not from the original pic ) and went with the OE hub caps. Full front and rear complete brake replacement ( probably should have just did a disc brake conversion ) and fuel system from filler to carb. The floors were bad. Parasitic rust destroyed the bottom of the seat mounts. My son really wanted to keep the bench seats so I fabricated my own brackets in order to reuse the bench. The engine is a Poly 318. The engine runs great however I am dealing with some ignition issues ( this forum has been a huge help ). I will not say it is solved yet but today it started with no issue. There is so much "new" I have thrown at this car. Every damn switch and sensor. I added a 3 gauge pack to better monitor the vitals. Working on my back on an aggregate driveway I installed a Chinese flow master and had a local shop bend and weld a new tailpipe ( the only thing I have farmed out ). The paint job is not everyone's cup of tea, I get it. Economics and teens first car..... well, it will work. I have learned a lot in the last couple of years, still have a few things to finish to make it a reliable daily. Not sure what the future holds for the car as my son suddenly does not want to drive... We'll see.

Welcome to FBBO.

Monroe, WA...I used to fly high power rockets there with a large group of guys when we had an approved NOTAM. Beautiful countryside.
