New from NC Just Bought 69 Coronet RT

Not sure which way I will go. My wife thinks the 69 camaro I have should be enough. Not sure if I will fix it or sell it.

I'm not sure if you fully realize what a great find that cat is. Not only a very desireable R/T....but in a very unusual trim combination. This is what makes Mopars so special.... anything goes. It looks like F3 light green metallic, which is a lovely and rare color on a R/T.... But the red interior puts it over the top...! If you locate a build sheet in the car it will tell you if it was a special order.... perhaps to display at a flower and garden show or some special event.

A car of that caliber deserves a full restoration to OEM specs.... And should retain a higher then average value when complete. I know I'm a Mopar guy ..... but I think the wise thing would be to sell the Camaro.... (one of a bazillion), and go with the one of a kind Dodge. If you do decide to sell..... Id appreciate a shot at it.

Will.

If it has a build sheet, and reflects the combo as well, yes a contours resto would be in order here.

Any chance that car is a funky faded A4 silver is it? That would make better since with the red inside. Welcome to FBBO! BTW
Matt

And the red interior was not available with any green paint or the Y2 yellow but was available, but not recommended with the Y3 cream paint.

Not true...... Chrysler would combine any combo of paint and interior a customer wanted if it meant losing a sale....

Blue Fury,
I know what you mean, I used to work for a C/P dealer in the early 70s.

Looking at the engine compartment picture, the core support and firewall appear to be a light yellow, but the picture ain't the best.
That got me thinking about a long time ago repaint.
The fender tag or broadcast sheet will set everything straight.

I have pulled the carpet up and the color is GREEN. I will add more pics to see if the detectives on this site can help.
Thanks

I have no doubt the car is green, looks like F3...perhaps F5. It's a Mopar thing...
I assume you have not located a build sheet as yet. Rear seat back rest is the most likely place to look for one. If found....Carefully remove and place in a clear sheet protector.... then photo copy. If you post it here i'm sure that between us we can nail down everything you need to know. Who ordered.... when it was built.....where it was built..... any and all standard, safety, and optional equipment..... I love the odd ball cars and am anxious to see some documents.

Good luck with it.
Will.

I don't necessarily agree with all the comments and advice about the purchase/restoration of this car.

It is easy to get carried away about thoughts of how rare this car likely is. It is also easy to spend SOMMEONE else's money.

Being a B body enthusiest site we all like to see something different in these cars, but would we actually BUY the car and pay extra money for it if it was restored? Remember it is rare for a reason, no one ordered something like this when new and Mopar did NOT recommend the color combo. Of course they would build anything a customer wanted to order and you can bet that the selling dealer got a sizeable deposit in case he was stuck with it.

The potential buyer needs to look at it as any other project and determine if he loves it enough to be buried in it when done as with nearly any project today. It is not like it was 5 years ago when the expectation was that the prices would continue to rise keeping in step with the cost of restoration. Today you really have to LOVE a car to think of doing a resto from a financial standpoint.

Remember, when it is time to sell this car how many people will actually be interested in BUYING this car AND paying anything extra for the odd color combo?

I agree.

Interesting combo and I'd love to see the BS or tag. I'd like to see what a red stripe looks like on F4. It's a great car and I'm partial to 69 R/Ts but I don't think this particular color combination makes it 'valuable' in the long run.

A nice driver quality restoration would probably be fine and affordable.

On second and third thought, I stand corrected. Yeah, that color combo wouldn't yield much on the resale. But if the build sheet exists and reflects the unique color combo, it's a great document, attesting to Dodge's willingness to build anything for the sake of a sale and customer satisfaction. Was it Chevy who used "00" on their paint codes to reflect a special non-factory available/option color order?

so what have you decided/done with this car? any more car **** to share on progress?

Welcome from a Ex Carolinian I have to agree with everyone it would be worth the time to restore it back to original.

old welcome thread here, but welcome to FBBO, I also wonder if any progress has even been made ??
