New gas can filler necks suck! At least for our old cars.

I see the reason why the gas cans are designed the way they are, and I am sure they work great on new cars, but I just bought this Midwest tank, and it blows. First it has this filter thing inside the can, that was the first thing to go, because it makes it almost impossible to fill with out splash back. Anyway, the big problem is the spring loaded filler neck, not designed for our cars, and even with the spring removed it just glugs and glugs and will take for ever to empty a 5 gallon can.

So, does anyone know where to get a free flowing neck that doesn't have all the bs stuff on it?

i started collecting older gas can lids years back when they first introed these useless new ones.
check your local yard sales, even if the cans cracked the lids usually good and itll be dirt cheap.
then just put the old one on the new can.

^^^^^^^^^^^ Can't be said any better ! I use a race can with the long filler tube. Summit, Jegs, even a local boat shop or off road shop should carry them.

The gas cans you want are the nato style gas cans
When I was in Moab UT at Easter Gear Heads had lots of them

The best gas can I have is the ones used for race fuel. I can get 5 gal in the take in a couple minutes. Those new cans aren’t made for any car BTW.

i could see using those, they look like they would fit in racks better as well.
thanks for the link

Just got gas in one of those stupid newer jugs for gas today. It has a plastic toothed ratcheting type collar that is always pinching your fingers tighten or loosen. More unnecessary government bullshit, from some feel good freaks who have never used anything in there life that normal people use.

Just make sure you label what you put in them. Personally, I'd just switch the spouts.
