New gas tank protection question.

Just got my new gas tank for my 70 superbee and want to protect the outside before installation. Its a Quanta piece and looks nice but would like to preserve the finish without making it look totally different. Someone said to use an Eastwood product,which would be Tank Tone from what their catalog shows.Does anyone have some personal experience with something that worked well for them.

Use a good quality clear coat (you may want to knock the sheen down a tad) and clean the tank well with wax and grease remover (not lacquer thinner) before you spray.

I left mine just the way it came,since my car never sees wet roads or the hose I didnt see any reason to do anything to it.

Clear coated mine also, after I cleaned the protectant off . Did use quality product though.
