Greetings, I just got my rear end back with new gears. Just put 3:55 gears and it will be with a 440 on a '69 Charger. What oil or lube would y'all recommend to fill her with?

Your owner's manual should say.... I think Mopar recommended something like 75W/90'ish, but I tend to run the 75W/140'ish thicker stuff (for no good reason, just what I've run). The main thing is that if you have a "posi" rear end, you need to make sure you either A) add a little bottle of posi-additive or B) buy gear lube that already has it in there (some do).

Sure grip? Dana? 8 3/4? Clutch style? Open diff? The gear oil itself is generally the same but different additives

Depends on what differential you have. With a clutch type limited slip, use the 80-90W gear oil with friction additive.

Always use the recommended oil by the gear manufacturer or OE Chrysler brand. Don't forget the hellishly expensive additive if you have a posi.

If a shop did it, they should give you a recommendation for what they built...in my clutch-type 8.75 w/3.73 gears, two quarts 85/140 with the small bottle of additive
