Here's a wee update on my car.

I finally got the fuel system installed into a fresh tank. I'll still be using the factory sending unit for the fuel gauge. I'm a little concerned about the height of the Aermotive system, but you'll see that I added some foam padding to take up the space.



Here's the transmission cooler mounted.



Transmission is ready to go in. I installed a temp sensor on the opposite side. I'll be running braided cooler lines to the new trans cooler. I also installed a Bouchillon Engineering downshifter kit. It looks good but you'll see that the carburetor bracket needed to be modified below.



Here's the K-frame, Firm Feel (stage 3) steering box, and Hotchkis goodies.



The TTI stainless steel headers!



Here's the 475ci engine with my new Fast EZ EFI 2.0 starting to shape up. I really like the muted look so I painted everything with a nice semi-flat high heat paint. Six Pack style air cleaner to go on top.





Here's the Bouchillon bracket that I had to modify. I'm still not thrilled with it, so I'll likely start from scratch when I have time.

I'm loving what you're doing with this car man it's coming together nice and should be a nice change to drive with all the changes!

My only opinion (and take it with a grain of salt because EVERYONE has an opinion on rims/tires) I would go at the most one lower than 19-20's and go 18-19 at most.. IMO 19's and 20's only look good on cars that are scraping the pavement and you can get a little more sidewall and softer ride going slightly smaller. I'm big on the Pro-Touring look and I have 17's all around on mine and I wish I would have staggered with 18's but the 18" rim wasn't available!

Oh and of those 2 pics I like the top mockup better

A little update. I did a test on the EZ EFI 2.0 system with the engine out of the car - more to ensure that my wiring was done correctly.

Here's the wiring inside my car. Once the test was completed, the wiring was hidden nicely under the dash.


Here's the throttle body hooked up to the ECU wiring harness.


Unfortunately after firing it up I received an error code - called COMM ERROR! I couldn't find a reference to this anywhere in the literature or online. After calling the FAST Techline, they suggested to re-set the display unit. Once the display was reset it worked perfectly!! There's a lot of very useful options on this system. I can't wait to get the engine in and running!



I also decided to phase my MSD distributor so I could utilize the timing adjustment available in the EZ-EFI 2.0 system. Keep in mind I locked out the spring action on my distributor to make this possible. I also had to buy a phasable rotor from MSD. I also had to cut a hole in my distributor cap to see how things would line up. Because I didn't have an extra distributor cap, I had to buy a new one and cut a hole in the side to see the number 1 post. Now that I have everything set-up so I can adjust the timing from 0 degrees to 42 degrees advanced on my engine throughout the RPM range.

Here's an update on my progress

This was the first time I have ever installed a drivetrain like this. I bolted the engine, trans, and K-frame together and slid it under the car. It worked very well - and I'd suggest doing it like this again in the future. No issues with header clearance or anything!

Oh, and must add that I did this all by myself.


Lowering the engine onto the K-frame


The whole drivetrain bolted together.


I used my engine hoist to lift the car up using a tow strap.


If you do this, be sure to block the rear of the car up under the differential so the car can pivot on the stands.


Lowered the car right over the entire drivetrain with no clearance issues.


All the way down.


It's installed!! Just a few wires to connect, fuel lines, a radiator and it's ready to run.

I was so close to getting the whole thing running... just a little impatient... and forgot to hook up the starter wires. When I turned on the battery, the main power wire grounded on the starter causing the positive wire to burn instantly. I had it on for maybe 3 seconds... oops

Well it runs!!!

Here's a quick video of the first time running on the EZ EFI 2.0. More tuning will be required but it already began learning in the few short 1-3 minute run times. You'll notice I had to open the door of the garage to let it air out a wee bit. The EFI was running on a very rich fuel map to start with, but got better as I started it a few times.

It's bloody cold here right now... -28 Celsius last night when we ran this - so short stints with the garage door open were all we could handle.

Great looking car, that color is very sharp. I also like to the way you painted the motor and the FAST EFI setup. i'd also like to know about the fuel tank and pump.

hey guys,
yes the fuel pump did interfere with the floor a bit, but I ended up putting 2 - 1/2" spacers the width of the tank inbetween the floor and tank. That fixed it - and I was still able to use the stock tank straps /bolts to secure the tank.
