Welcome from California. Despite the media attention, we are not all Liberal jerkoffs over here.
You mentioned Hemi....Thems are sum expensive machines! (Kidding)
The weight can be offset by using aluminum heads, battery in trunk, etc. If not racing, a stroked 440 can be quite powerful at 1/2 the price.
In 2011, an Australian named Glen Curtis came to California for one of our biggest car shows, he then met up with his girlfriend who flew in later. They rented a Charger and drove across the country. I still email with his from time to time. I thought it was great that he was so excited to be here, seeing the "Mopar" birthplace and all since he too was a Mopar fan.
welcome from NJ...I had a 69 as well that was original owner from 1969-2006. Had all the paperwork, he saved everything, all #'s matching 383 bench 4spd and all original body panels (lower quarter patches). never raced, never in an accident. still had the original spare tire/wheel holding air...and original 14" road wheels. it was an older resto but still presented well. restored in '94. It now lives in Maryland. Bottom pic is from '94 with original owner.
