Hello
I just got a 64 Polara 500, 318 Poly, 2 barrel carb, all original except wheels tires and exhaust
I'd like to get either 4 barrel carb or efi, without disrupting originality too much
Also, I have 15" American Racing 5 spoke wheels and would like to change front drums to disk
I've got like 13 1/2" clearance on inside of rim
Anyone have suggestions for setup?
Thanks for your help

Welcome aboard from NJ. Very nice Polara! Thanks for posting the pics & I am sure someone with a similar car will chime in!

Welcome and Greetings from Upstate New York.
Love your Dodge and especially the POLY. You may hear, as I have, and many other POLY owners, ditch the POLY and drop in a BB. My response has always been, 'why'? You'll hear that they are too expensive to build, no speed parts, headers cost $900, and except for the headers the rest is not true.
About the 4 brl.... intake manifolds are a little hard to find. They're out there but can be a little pricey. Weiand made one but it is a single plane manifold and IMO does not perform well. The original cast iron manifolds, although they weigh about 60 lbs are a far better manifold. Expect to pay $400/700 for either. If you find a cast iron manifold you will probably need a carb adapter. My 1956 cast iron square bore needed a Transdapt adapter plate. And, of course, if you switch to a 4brl, plan on redesigning the throttle linkage.
There is another option. A 500cfm 2 brl carb on your stock 2 brl manifold. This set up out performs a stock cammed POLY 4brl. There are posts about this on the Facebook Polyspherical AKA Poly 318 group. Try searching David Grow ll in that group. They also talk about EFI there. Another thing that will wake up your POLY is a nice 264/284 Schneider cam. It will do wonders.
There are 2 people to talk to about your POLY, Bruce Toth and Gary Pavlovich. Both can be found on the FB POLY group and can answer all your questions and even supply the parts.
Good luck with your mods. You have a beautiful car there.

Welcome from NY.
Great looking car.
I suggest you start with the brakes.
Stopping is more important that starting.
Definitely change to a dual master cylinder and replace the rubber lines.
I used an SSBC conversion on my Charger and they are easy to install and work pretty well, with a manual master cylinder.
That carbuerator is very cute.

Welcome to FBBO. Nice 64. I hope to find one like that sometime soon. When you are ready for parts, you can start some parts wanted ads here. There are many members here with lots of help.

Welcome to FBBO from Ontario. That is a very nice '64 Polara 500 you have there. Thanks for the pictures. There are many of us '64 Dodge owners on this site willing to help with tips and parts.
I converted my Polara to disc brakes many years ago using parts from a junkyard 1970 Roadrunner. I had to swap spindles side for side to hang the calipers at the rear to miss my sway bar.I
I remember buying up 4-barrel Poly intakes whenever I saw them at junk yards for $10.00 and reselling them for $25.00. I was quite the entrepreneur! This was 40-50 years ago, when you could find neat stuff at yards.

Welcome to FBBO Michael! That's a great looking Polara. Also a great color! As you can see, there are knowledgeable answers to all your questions here.
