All, well I didn't realize pictures are worth a lot of words, lol. I feel like am teasing you all. So, now that I am back in the great cold north here in MI. I will start to post some picts of this project. Let me start with the back story, aka more words first.
The project is one that my father and I started. He originally owned a 69 SuperBee that was his first new car purchased in the fall of '69. He had ordered it prior to the 69.5 MY announcements of the 440-6pack. He would have gotten that package had he known. As it was he purchased the 383 4spd, ran it like he stole it loved the car. An unfortunate accident left the Bee destroyed. In summer of 1988, a barn find was discovered. It was not a complete car, missing powertrain and interior pieces (most still there). Life happened and then in about 2017 new motivation was discovered (created). My father and I decided to "do this car" finally. First was the search for finished cars, nothing as good as the car we already had. I then schemed my way to convince my mother that we needed something now for them and the grandchildren to enjoy and not to wait for the SuperBee completion, she agreed. I purchased a 1969 RoadRunner 383 clone. Then we scoped the B project.
Scope:
Question posed to my dad, what would you have done back in the day if you could have afforded it? We came up with the following:
- 440 6pk
- 4spd
- 3.73 FDR
- some other cool comforts....
Thus our initial scope....except...I had conditions:
My conditions:
- fuel injection
- chassis needs to be able to turn, not just straight line
- modern updates / touches
Current charter /scope
Resto-mod ish
- 440 6pk => I spent some time with the 1's & 0's to come up with a respectable build. Targeted 700+ ft-lbs & 550+hp, Fuel Injection, solid bottom end dished pistons, potential for forced induction if needed and pump gas (89 targeted). See the pictures of this engine thus far.
- Chassis was a no brainer, at least to my pops, Schwartz G-machine was ordered with power rack, SLA front suspension, 12" disc all around, Ford 9" 4-link w 3.73 gears
- Sheet metal, was decent, but we had a vision of better. Made the investment in new sheet metal with AMD. AMD did a wonderful job with new panels and marry to chassis. Currently need small fabrication for updated seat belts and center console modifications. See some of the items we are planning on putting in the vehicle.
- brakes - placed order for hydrotech hydro-boost system still waiting for this to be completed and shipped
Status - currently in sheet metal waiting for final items to be fab then the coatings and sealing begins then paint and a whole bunch of assembly
