The schoolteacher was so afraid someone would tamper with her pride and joy, she installed a security alarm system and a padlock on the gas tank as well ! Must have been a victim of those pesky gas siphoners from back in the 70's when gas jumped from 60 cents to 90 cents a gallon. LOL !

What are your plans for the car? Restore the A/C, drive as is?

It has the original 14" Magnum 500 wheels, they look too small for the car. I'm going to put 15" Magnum 500s on it with BF Goodrich Silvertown Redline Radial tires, gotta have the redlines with the black paint ! Yes, I've ordered the A/C upgrade kit so I will install new A/C too !

The most amazing thing about this car is that you turn the key and the engine starts right up without even touching the accellerator pedal (unlike a lot of Mopars at the time, which required mashing the accelerator pedal repeatedly to get it to start).

I like black with blue.

Only seen it a couple of times.

Bought a 2.94 sure grip chunk from a 66 Coronet 500 SE 4 door trailer package car that was black with a metallic turquoise interior and had a 361.

That was an odd car...and pretty in an unusual way.

I can see why Mrs Smith fell in love with that car, it’s gorgeous! And what a sweetheart to donate all of her cars knowing they would still be loved, and also help a great cause. Welcome to FBBO, glad to have you and your car amongst us!

Hi, I just bought this 1968 Dodge Coronet 500, 383-4 bbl. A local schoolteacher saw it abandoned behind a used car lot in 1973, fell in love with the car and used it as a daily driver to school for years. She recently passed away from COVID and donated 5 cars, including this car to our local Mopar club. We sold all 5 cars and donated $66K to our charity, The Ronald McDonald House. I was lucky enough to snag the car, and I get a nice tax deduction too!. The car is black with a Cobalt blue interior, bucket seats and a console !
Welcome from Illinois
