So, I brought home a new project last night. One owner, 7186 original miles, bone stock, one of 398 produced.
1996 Buell Thunderbolt S2T touring. 1200cc carbureted, air cooled v-twin, 5 speed, 6 piston front caliper, and some of the sexiest (hand-laid fiberglass) bodywork ever put on a production motorcycle.
I had a 1995 for about 15 years, rode the hell out of it for nearly 60,000 miles...then, a deer jumped in front of me at 70 mph. Cut the deer in half, cracked the bikes frame, and I slid 110 yards down the pavement on my back. Been looking for another ever since.
This was a buddy of mines bike. I serviced it for him in 2012, and he rode it exactly zero miles since then. So, I'll be going through everything, rebuilding the carb (again), putting a bunch of the upgrades I had on my old red bike on it...and having some 50mpg fun in the autumn colors!
