Each week, I watch the NHRA races. Between rounds they do a great job of explaining what happens to the Top Fuel and Funny Cars between rounds, but they never go into what is going on in the Pro Stock pits. Just out of curiosity, to what extent are the pro stock cars serviced between rounds?

Clutch mainly and top end inspection. They dont rebuild engines after every round but they will swap engines if need be

went to Norwalk yesterday, first time, very cool day will be back next year. You can watch the guys wrenching in between runs in there pit's (parking area). Have a video of them firing it up there just before final round for alcohol I believe, can't upload that, not smart enough. standing at the line on launch at the track, the shock wave is heart stopping, its amazing, as long as you plug your ears. mopar ruled the day!

I always go to the Norwalk race as well, and the weather was pretty decent this year. The track was just repaved and is better than ever.
Pro Stock is not entertaining in the pits at all. NHRA makes them back the Pro Stock cars into the pits now, so fans can see some of the engine stuff, but most teams have covers over the intake manifolds trying to keep their secrets from the other teams. All you really see is valve covers and a big air inlet contraption coming down to the front of the car.
Top Fuel, Funny Car, alcohol classes, and Pro Mod have more action in the pits. Much better to watch the teardown and rebuild of one of those.
On the track, the performance of the Pro Stock cars was all very close. There was no runaway advantage this weekend.

Good weather?! Sunday only. It rained out Friday night qualifying and the second qualifying round Saturday.

Pro stock camero class does suck now. The was one ford in the field because they ran out of Chevys

Hemis owned the factory stock though

About 10 years ago I asked Roy Johnson what they do to the car between rounds. He said they didn't do much at all. They always seemed to have a lot of time to talk to people. He and Revonda are really nice people. My daughter took this picture on race day morning at Joliet in 2011 and AJ Racing put it on their home page for awhile.

Between rounds is mostly clutch adjustment. Adding/deleting weight to get the perfect amount of clutch slip and wheel spin off the line.

Sorry, I should have specified I was referring to Sunday. They got driers out early Sunday and got a few make up rounds in, then had a good day for the Pro categories.

I was watching NHRA this past weekend and Superstock is just as boring as it was last year when I last watched it. It's so generic and about the only thing that will win a race is the drivers reaction time. The track was super hot and a couple of teams did miss their setup. You're done the second you leave. It's a totally different game and only the prestigious can own a car.

Even Top Fuel and Funny Car isn't the same anymore. Not knocking it, just not the same.

and now this year the motor brand doesn't have to match the car brand......who would want to cheer for a chevy powered ford or mopar........I just fast forward thru pro stock now!!! They should be replaced by pro-mod...at least that class is interesting!

this is when they had real entertaining Pro Stock cars.....I could not get enough watching them live! oh man those were the days...
