After my arrival back home from the last road trip in my '72 SSP project car, fuel gauge stuck on empty. Today, a local instrument shop pulled out the pickup to find the brass float had completely filled with gasoline. I had a replacement 3/8" tube size pickup (for big block/Hemi) in my parts stash so we "borrowed" the float from that new part and now I can monitor the fuel level again. What a relief. Anyone know if those brass floats are available to purchase separately? Thank you.

Ford dealers used to have them. Can't recall the part#.

While we are on the subject, has anyone run out of fuel in a 71-72 BBody and then filled up immediately afterward?? Just wondering what these tanks actually hold. I've seen both 20 and 21 gallon listings
