Car was starting fine when garaged 2 years ago. I finally started working on it again. All lights work. New starter relay. (everything is basically new)
I noticed that my battery ground was connected to the aluminum heads. I'm thinking that is not the best place to ground the system. Should I move the ground to a water pump bolts?
Any other suggestions to troubleshoot this?

TIA

oh yeah, 69 383 Charger

Your ok with the ground wire going to the aluminum heads. Make sure you have good connections at the starter. try banging on starter while someone turns the key ? I doubt your motor is seized ...

Not sure if the electrical is updated-maybe check the ballast resistor and fuses.
Yep use a rubber hammer and tap the starter.

I bought a car once that started fine until it rained. I replaced the plugs, wires, and cap thinking that the problem was solved ..., then it rained again. I replaced the coil, still no luck. Long story short, the battery was grounded to the aluminum intake, so I moved it to the engine block and problem solved.

Some say no way, I say let it rain ... :headbang:

Copper and aluminum are not a good mix. If you leave it attached to the aluminum head you will have to continually clean the connection to maintain continuity.

good point, I didn't think about dissimilar metals ..... stupid aluminum ! ..... BUT, on the other hand ... My 340 has had aluminum heads for over 10yrs and never had any issues with the ground cable being attached to them. Same thing With the 440 in the 65 coronet I used to own ...

I bought a new mini starter when I installed headers; No click/no crank. Starter was bad. After taking 2nd new starter to parts store for free test first replaced bad starter with new one and solved.
